Defqon.1

Defqon, organized by Q-Dance annually since 2011, is held in the grounds of Biddinghuizen. Near Walibi Holland. Every year it attracts circa 60,000 visitors, including 45,000 campers from 62 different countries. Since 2014, ZAP Concepts has been responsible for managing the power advancing for all suppliers to the festival & for setting up a process that optimizes the diesel consumption for all the generators.

Since this collaboration started in 2014, the challenge was to ensure that the generator diesel consumption remained the same, despite the increase in visitor numbers from 115,000 to 180,000. Since its inception, the smart power plan has become more complete and more detailed thus providing a good view of the costing structure of the power supply. This is valuable input for the festival management.

ZAP Concepts successfully met this challenge year on year and have been able to provide the organisers with strategies for making further improvements and fuel savings.

2018 sees ZAP Concepts presented with a new tough challenge – to maintain the same total energy production & usage as the festival extends from a three to four day event. Their objective is to ensure transparency and show that all necessary power is provided without any unforeseen costs.

Teun Schilders, Production Manager Q-Dance:

The Defqon 1 power plan has over the last couple of years become much more comprehensive. Therefore it provides us with clear information about the cost structure and offers valuable input for our production team and suppliers. I have found ZAP Concepts professional, yet approachable & personable.
